Biology of broadly academic profile is uniquely positioned in the field of education in the natural sciences. Issues that determine its distinctiveness are the phenomena and processes occurring at all levels of life. Education in this direction requires knowledge of the fundamentals of natural sciences, especially described by the science. This requirement does not, however, decide on the location of biology at the border areas. Objectives, effects and content of education in the direction is determined by: a) the dynamic development of the biological sciences, in particular fundamental research in the field of modern biology; b) highlighted specific set of methodological approaches and research techniques; c) strictly empirical nature of the cognitive process leading from formulating a hypothesis through observation or experience, and on the interpretation of the results and verify the finishing hypothesis; d) the need to master and expert use of specific scientific terminology, also in English.
