The brain is the most complex organ known in nature. Neurosciences deal with the development, structure and function of the brain and nervous system. The applied experimental methods are very diversified and cover biochemical, molecular biology, cell biology and physiological techniques as well as "in vivo" studies. Neurosciences provide the basis for research into a variety of illnesses, e.g. Alzheimer's disease, depression or schizophrenia.

The Master's degree in biology with specialization in neurosciences offers students an in-depth academic education and skills needed for independent scientific work in the specialist field of neurosciences. The MSc in biology is the qualification for academic biological professions and required for the Study Program for the Teaching Diploma for Secondary Education.
