The Master of Science in Molecular Life Sciences aims to prepare students for interdisciplinary work which has now become essential in biological research . The instruction is focused on the acquisition of a sound basis in cell and molecular biology, genomics, and bioinformatics. Recent breakthroughs in the field of genomics have opened up new research perspectives that enable us to greatly advance our knowledge in the physiological functions of living organisms.

The University of Lausanne offers a scientific environment rich in multidisciplinary interactions with partners like the University of Geneva (UNIGE), the Ecole Polytechnique Federale of Lausanne (EPFL) and the Centre Hospitalier Universitaire Vaudois (CHUV) to take advantage of these developments. Furthermore the genomics, proteomics and imaging technical platforms available at the University of Lausanne are valuable resources for an outstanding teaching and research programme.

The Master of Science in Molecular Life Sciences is designed for students who are inquisitive, motivated and extremely keen to explore life processes using modern methods of experimental biology. The teaching of the Master focuses on the acquisition of both specialised and transferable skills in this field.The students of the Master in Molecular Life Sciences can specialise in either bioinformatics or in microbiology.
